đź’Ť THE FOUNDRY FILES: WEEK 5

BOOZE, BOYS & “BRENDA’S BLUSHING”

Signature Cocktails, Open Bar Shenanigans & One Man Who Absolutely Should Not Be Bartending

Hi again, cocktail connoisseurs and champagne chuggers 🍸

You’ve made it back—and I’m so glad, because this week we’re stirring the pot. And by pot, I mean punch bowl.

Welcome to the world of signature drinks, late-night bar lines, and the one time a groomsman used a mixing glass as a microphone (true story, names protected, vibes unmatched).

Let’s Set the Stage:
The bar at a wedding isn’t just a place to grab a beverage. No, no. At Foundry 45, it’s a stage. A confessional. A dance floor waiting to happen. It’s where cousins reconnect, coworkers loosen up, and where—nine times out of ten—someone spills a vodka cranberry on the guestbook from last week’s blog. (It’s all coming full circle, isn’t it?)

But most importantly, the bar is where your personality shines through—in liquid form.

Signature Cocktails: A Love Story
Let’s talk “His & Hers” (or “His & His,” “Hers & Hers,” “Their & Their”—we love love in all combos).

These custom concoctions are part drink, part identity, and always a conversation starter. Here’s a taste of the crowd favorites we’ve seen lately:

Brenda’s Blushing â€“ A pink gin fizz with edible glitter. Pairs well with drama and sequins.

The Ice Man â€“ Vodka, Red Bull, and one too many regrets.

Something Borrowed, Something Boozy â€“ A lavender lemonade twist on the classic Old Fashioned, made with whiskey, bitters, and just the right amount of floral flair. Dangerously refreshing and award-winning—literally. (Shoutout to our event manager and bar manager for taking home 3rd place with this beauty! 🤪)

The Ring Bearer â€“ A spicy margarita with a salt rim that says “I came to play.”

But fair warning: No matter how elegant the ingredients sound, someone will call it “the pink one” by hour two.

Bar Shenanigans: A Timeline
Let’s walk through a typical evening at the wedding bar, shall we?

5:30 PM – Guests politely order their signature cocktails, sip, and compliment the garnish.

6:45 PM – Someone asks the bartender if they can make a custom version of the already custom drink.

7:30 PM – The first shot ski emerges.

8:15 PM – That one uncle (you know the one) says, “I used to bartend in college—need a hand?” He’s immediately handed a sparkling water and redirected.

9:00 PM – Your maid of honor invents a shot called “Emotional Damage.” It’s tequila with a splash of cranberry and a single tear.

10:30 PM – The bouquet lands in the bar ice bucket. We do not ask questions.

11:45 PM – Someone starts slow dancing with a bottle of champagne. We support them.

Lessons From Behind the Bar
As someone who’s seen things, I’d like to offer a few humble bar truths:

  • People will forget their drink mid-conversation and come back three times for “the one with the orange slice.”
  • The fanciest drink names don’t matter. Everyone still wants a High Noon.
  • A good bartender is part mixologist, part therapist, part crowd-control specialist. Treat them like the magical creatures they are.
  • At some point, someone will give an impromptu toast from the bar top. We don’t encourage it—but we do record it for blackmail.

At Foundry 45, We Pour with Purpose
Whether you’re crafting cocktails that tell your love story or keeping it simple with classics on tap, we’ll help you set the vibe. From vintage bar carts to full-service setups and custom signage that says things like â€śTake a Shot, We Tied the Knot”—your bar is part of your brand, baby.

We’ve even helped couples create mocktail menus, coffee bar stations, and late-night boozy lemonade bars. Because at the end of the day, the bar isn’t about getting sloppy—it’s about celebration. Shared drinks. Shared stories. And maybe, shared hangovers. 💕

Next Week…
We’re slowing things down—and turning the volume way up. Because we’re talking first dances. The magical, awkward, emotional, twirly, toe-stepping, perfectly imperfect first dances that make your grandma cry and your dog bark in the background.

Until then, stay hydrated (with water and â€śBrenda’s Blushing”), hug your bartender, and remember—signature cocktails fade, but the stories you tell about them? Legendary.

Cheers & chasers,
Foundry 45
